In 1974 KNX brought back radio drama. And it met with great success! Unfortunately, in late 2003, the management of KNX changed, and they dropped the Drama Hour, after nearly 30 years of nightly shows. KSUR AM 1260 in Los Angeles picked up the baton and continued with the same lineup and scheduling (9-10pm, repeating at 2am) and even added its own drama shows. KSUR changed formats several times since then, and has revived the radio drama occasionally. In April 2011, it had become "K-Mozart", and no longer played them. To my knowledge, that was the end of old radio broadacst in LA, the entertainment capital of the world. So far. An actual night of 1980s classic KNX Drama Hour! KNX Revolt!, a blog about it.
